description

FLIR Scout PS32

The compact, lightweight FLIR Scout PS-32 provides clear, crisp thermal imagery from dawn to dusk and through the dead of night. It fits easily and naturally into the palm of your hand and features simplified operation making it an ideal choice for sportsmen, hikers, ranchers, rangers, or backyard nature enthusiasts. If you can’t bear to miss a thing while exploring the great outdoors, the Scout PS-32 Thermal Handheld Camera, satisfies your thirst for adventure.
With its small form factor, light weight, and powerful imagery, the Scout PS-Series allows you to scan vast areas of environment for long periods of time without arm fatigue. Straightforward operation ensures that you can rely on it for the visual information you need, day or night, while you concentrate on more important matters.
Like all FLIR thermal cameras, the Scout PS-32 creates images from heat, not light, giving you a tactical advantage out in the wild. You can navigate rough terrain to scope out the “perfect spot” at dusk, before dawn and even when it’s pitch black outside. You can discover nocturnal animals, find wandering members of your party, locate lost livestock or spot downed game. You can use Scout to help see through light fog, smoke or trail dust and even use it to help insulate your home, check out things that go bump in the night, and much more.

Detection, Recognition, Identification

Select the Device:

Human DRI

Vehicle DRI

Measurements: Meters

The Johnson Criteria assumes that the critical dimension for a human being is 0.75 meters. To get DRI, you need 1.5 pixels, 6 pixels and 12 pixels across 0.75 meters in the object pane.
That means:

  • Detection
    1.5 pixels / 0.75m = 2 pixels per meter
  • Recognition
    6 pixels / 0.75m = 8 pixels per meter
  • Identification
    12 pixels / 0.75m = 16 pixels per meter

Assuming that a man is 1.83m by 0.5m, the following would apply:

Detection 3.6 pixels by 1 pixel
(You can see
something is there)

Recognition
13 pixels by 5 pixels
(You can see that a person
is there)

Identification
28.8 pixels by 8 pixels
(You can see that the
person looks like a civil man)

Assuming that a vehicle is 4m by 1.5m, the following would apply:

Detection
2.8 pixels by 1 pixel
(You can see something
is there)

Recognition
13 pixels by 5 pixels
(You can see that a
vehicle is there)

Identification
26 pixels by 10 pixels
(You can see that the vehicle
may be a off-road vehicle)
